BECOME A MENTOR

The Ontario Mentorship Program

APPLY TO BE A MENTOR

Mentor applications are officially open for the Ontario Mentorship Program. We are accepting applications for Senior Mentors and Junior Mentors.
Note, mentors do not need to be Ontario-based (this is only a requirement for mentees). 

To apply, please send a CV (this should include education, relevant work experience, and contact information) and a Cover Letter (1 page on why your experiences would contribute to your being a good mentor to young mentees) to operations@canadianlawreview.ca
 
If you are a junior mentor (university student or law school student) please also send a copy of your most recent unofficial transcript.

ELIGIBILITY

To apply to be a Senior Mentor at the Ontario Mentorship program, you must be in one of the following categories:

  1. A Practicing Lawyer, who possesses at least 1 year of post-graduation work experience in the legal field

  2. A Legal Scholar, who possesses at least 5 years of work experience since graduating from law school, much of which is centred on substantial legal scholarship. 

  3. A Law Professor, who has 2+ years of teaching experience at an academic institution in the field of law, or possesses a J.D. and teaches in a special field related to law.

  4. A Law Admissions Counsellor, who is currently employed or has been employed in the past 3 years at a Canadian, U.S., or U.K. law school​

  5. An Alumni, who possess a J.D. degree and has a unique post-graduation path that could be valuable to know more about for young aspiring lawyers


To apply to be a Junior Mentor at the Ontario Mentorship program, you must be in one of the following categories:

  1. A University Student, who is currently studying at a Canadian, American, or U.S. university and is in their upper years (3rd or 4th year) in good academic standing.

  2. A Law Student, who currently studying at a Canadian, American, or U.S. Law School in good academic standing. 

COMMITMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

Junior Mentors must be willing to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours a week of supporting, meeting with, and planning for mentees. 

Senior Mentors must be willing to commit to a minimum of 1 hour a week to participate in information sessions, provide guidance, and support mentees.
